What gets accelerated?

WarpSpeed Accelerated Dialup compresses the following elements of webpages in order to send the information to your computer faster:

• Web pages - HTML markup and JavaScript
• Graphics including JPEG and GIF images
• Text
• E-mail - SMTP and POP

What will not be accelerated

Although WarpSpeed Accelerated Dialup is able to compress many different types of online data, there are a few which cannot be accelerated:

• Streaming media, audio, and video files
• Binary and program files
• Secure pages, such as those used for online banking and credit card forms

How does it work?

With traditional dialup methods, the text and graphics that make up web pages are sent from the server to your computer over the telephone line. Because of the large amount of data required to be sent, this process can be painfully slow. WarpSpeed Accelerated Dialup compresses this data using a proprietary technology, and sends it over your existing dialup phone line. This compression process allows a smaller amount of data to be sent - up to five times less - making the download time of your web pages and your online experience that much faster.

To further reduce the download time for web pages, the WarpSpeed Accelerated Dialup server stores elements of web pages visited by others using the service. Subsequent requests for these web pages will be supplied from the server cache which eliminates the need to download these items and speeds up the web surfing.
